The Least of These

Christ's message was vastly different than the apathetic doctrines being taught by many groups today claiming to be Christian. The demonization of the poor, apathy towards those in need and a cold callous judgement of a given individual or groups worthiness to receive assisatance are poles apart from the compassionate, humane message Christ taught during his 3 year ministry.

Christ's Gospel centered on how we deal with the poor, the needy, the sick and those in prison. Whoever society shunned, felt was unworthy, dirty, undeserving, etc was who Christ commanded us to honor and give generous assistance to whenever requested without regards to deservingness, station, nationality, race, creed color or religion. Whoever was the "Least Among Us" was who Christ commanded us to care for.

To those who claim to be of him yet fail to honor the poor and needy, Christ had these harsh words of condemnation;

Hiding behind the claims of unworthy or "lazy" poor will not excuse one professiong to be Christian from Christ's commandments to honor and share our good fortune with those less fortunate. From the decision makers and leaders to the protesters calling for an end to tax dollars being used for "entitlement programs" and subsidies for the poor, needy and less fortunate those stinging words still hold true and stand as a testament to their apathy and hypocrisy

"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat,: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying,

Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. "

Matthew 25:42-45

Science & Theology

Does Science Contradict the Bible?

God created our brains and commanded us to use them. Science is not contrary to the Bible nor the Gospel of Christ. Science permitds us to understand the universe we inhabit. Religion and Faith permits us to examine the why behind the how and when. Using Science means using the talents and capabilities that were given us to understand the universe around us. Without science man is groping in the dark and mysticism and superstition find fertile breeding grounds to thrive in. Science shines a light on reality and the environment in which we live. Religion shines a light on why we are here, and for what purpose it may have been created. Combined science and religion can bring us closer to understanding our environment and purpose here. Insisting on seperating the two limits the potential for understaning and restricts the availability of information as well as perspective.
